Texas Early Childhood English Learner Initiative Legislative Briefing

Please join the new Texas Early Childhood English Learner Initiative on March 12th for our virtual briefing on new research regarding strategies for improving educational outcomes for early childhood English Learners and recommendations to state policymakers, schools, and child care providers.

Texans Care for Children, Philanthropy Advocates, IDRA, and other partners launched the Initiative last year as an effort to build on HB 3, meet the Legislature's goal of ensuring students are strong readers by third grade, and ensure more students become fluent in English and their home language.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic struck, uneven access to learning opportunities and the social isolation experienced by English Learners during the critical early years of language acquisition have only added urgency to this effort.

The virtual briefing will take place on Friday, March 12th at 10:00 am. Register here:

Thank you to Philanthropy Advocates, a collaboration with Educate Texas, for sponsoring the briefing and the Initiative’s research.
